okay, it is finally September in Houston, but it's like 105 degrees outside everyday. it's nearly cancerous to step outside. I feel like burnt flesh dipped in soysauce.

I recently moved into a strange little suburbia and finally had to chance to visit one thrift shop around here. I didn't have much hope clothing-wise but, actually, I was wrong! yay :D here are my most recent finds:

We Love Colors sent me over a sample of their tights and I have to say I am extremely impressed by the colors and comfortability. they are vibrant, psychedelic, and soft. I want an entire body suit! there's pretty much no need to wear any other extravagant item with them, as they speak loudly enough for themselves. if Houston squeezes out a few more cold days, I am going to layer them under ripped up black denim with thigh-high socks. and for the summer, I almost want to just throw on a black leotard and nothing else. or even a matching leotard... can you imagine that under a black light?

the exact pair I have is the nylon/lycra splash colors microfiber tights in the color #7411

and just a note, I'd love to see some goth themed tights as well... black & red & white / black & purple & gray / black & white spiderwebby ink splotches mmm

my roommate Molli, who took the photos for me (thanks, love), and I both agree that I look like a hippie cowgirl... gotta throw some dark turquoise leather fringe in there

wow, I feel like my style has changed dramatically in the past year. I still love the monochromatic ensemble, but the sunshine combined with concrete surroundings has drawn me toward a more colorful approach. come winter time, the leather jackets and all black will be back for sure. the skirt and top are both from sand dollar for about $3. the subtle lace and cut-out back of the top is simply amazing ~ I wear it way too much.

I honestly don't know why I even bother looking at bags anymore... I wear pretty much only this old Balenciaga lilac hobo or a green backpack I got from Urban Outfitters. I'm on official "bag ban" until my birthday!

by the way, I have gotten two pairs of worishofer sandals - they are deliciously comfortable... to the point where I want to order the sandals in every color and never wear any other brand again. I've never worn crocs before, so I really can't compare; but it's probably a good thing I haven't tried them. comfy shoes, no matter how ugly, are my weakness.

Limedrop has lots of great summer things, and the tailored shorts are no exception. Houston is so muggy that I hate wearing pants, so a good amount of shorts is necessary. I'm getting them in an array of colours like navy, khaki, maroon, and black. My other DIY project is making a good pair of jhorts.

For May, I like to have a few print shirts that really pop. Polka dots, muted floral, and gingham are a go for me. I have a DIY project for a white shirt of mine that has such dull buttons. I bought translucent light blue buttons that made it exciting. It's perfect for when I'm not in the mood to wear a print so I can still stand out.

This Robert Ervel rain coat caught my eye. It's a nice length and the clear material gives me the option of showing off what you have underneath.

I've been exploring the world of accessories, and rings are my new obsession. I really like this Stolen Girlfriends Club ring. It's simple and can be worn with tons of things. I've been more daring with mixing metals and I really like the look.

Slashed tees have been slowly growing on me, and I'm ready to cut a few of mine up soon. It's harder to get those interesting articles of clothing I won't sweat in for me in the summer and this perfect.

I'm having fun this May. I'm wear bright things, slicking back my hair, and trying not to sweat too much. :)

Couture Blowout has to be my favourite place to go for great designer and beautiful vintage clothing. Owner Fatou Fall has the best selection Houston has to offer for big label resale. I'll have to give it to Fatou; she has the best taste in clothing I've ever seen. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a designer consignment shop and wanted to pound my head in. She doesn't just buy them for the label, but for their relevance to fashion. Each item I touch something I have to take a deep breath and collect myself, because it's like being in your own VIP dressing room. There's an array of shoes, pants, jackets, dresses, skirts, blouses, jewelry, and accessories. Conscience of the economy, she makes her inventory accessible to the public by pricing things affordably. Now to disappoint the guys, Fatou only carries women's clothes, I just happened to be lucky that someone was trying to sell the McQueen jacket as unisex (for $359 I might add). If you're interested in taking your things in, she'll price the item for you and split it 50-50, and I encourage the guys to bring in their designer things also. We could get a spot of our own.

the shallow meaning: they are the primary colors in squares.
the "deep" meaning: we are all living things, and consequently, we are all energy. our eyes filter thousands and thousands of multiple vibrations through three colors: red, blue, and yellow. therefore, we aren't seeing reality as it really is. we are merely hearing a song with three different keys. this is a reminder to myself that my visual perspective isn't as it always seems, that there are so many colors that my eyes are missing and so many different vibrations I cannot detect.
(I prefer to use the first meaning, because it's short and sweet and not as complicated)
by the way, that mark in the yellow square is a birth mark. I'm probably going to turn it into a smiley face or something random in the future.

Paris is so amazing! Unfortunately, we were only there for three nights, but I still think we did alright :) I had crepes, macaroons, and feasted on Italian artwork. besides the two Balenciaga purchases shown in the pics above, I also got a pair of Repetto ballet flats and Robert Clergerie pointed toe flats. I will take pictures of them soon.

the best thing about being in Paris is basking in the views and architecture... it's so beautiful! there really are no words for it. :)

about my hair perm - I got a demi-texture perm from Toni & Guy; it was $75.00. the care for it so far has been the easiest of my life - shower and use one of those dispersing things to blowdry. I don't use mousse or conditioner. still soft!

nowadays bloggers are getting so good at photography I can hardly tell whether some editorials are blogger shot or "professionally" done! ...and here I am taking these horribly grainy webcam photos. oh well, the important thing is the ridiculous rose bag that I've been saving since childhood, waiting for the right moment to wear out again. after seeing the magnificent prada rose drawstring bag on mary-kate and lulu I knew instantly which bag I wanted to play around with again!

anyways, I hope you are all having a wonderful winter so far! and thank you to all the sweet people who wished me a happy new year. and for those of you who also had a shittastic 2009, 2010 will be better. I can feel it!
